Benjamin Eugene Becknell

Benjamin Eugene Becknell, 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born on October 31, 1927, son of the late Otha E. and Jessie Batson Becknell. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances B. Sadowski. Ben retired from the U.S. Merchant Marines after thirty years of service and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting. He is survived by two brothers, James M. Becknell and wife Ann of Mooresville NC and Robert M. Becknell and wife Adeline of Greensboro NC; one sister, Martha B. McAdams and husband Gordon of Rocky Mount; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Harry Fowler officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service and other times at the home.
