Aven Elizabeth Murphy

November 21, 2019 ~ April 8, 2020

CAMERON - Aven Elizabeth Murphy, 4 months old, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. After four months of adventure in this world, Aven Elizabeth Murphy passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother and father at Duke University Hospital. Aven's spirit was infectious to everyone who encountered her. She was a strong willed child that was full of love. Aven started her journey as a 3lb 2 ounce baby born seven weeks early at Duke University Hospital to Jordan Philips Murphy and William Joseph Murphy, where she spent her entire life. Aven loved looking at her mobile and enjoyed lights and music. She was a soul too grand for this world and had so much purpose in her short life. Aven impacted more people at Duke University Hospital than we will ever know. Aven also taught her parents and family more about life in four short months than we could hope to learn in a lifetime. Aven joins many great grandparents in Heaven including: Mickey Bulluck (Granddaddy), Lindsey Thomas (Pa), Frank Philips (Grandpa), Cecil Tucker (Papaw), Naoimi Philips (Grandma). We know it is true that Aven is with them now and out of physical pain and released from the suffering of this world for the lord has made this known through His teachings. Aven is bouncing on Great Grandfathers' knees and being spoiled by her Great Grandmothers with outfits and treats. Aven Elizabeth Murphy will be forever in our hearts. Aven is survived but her parents William and Jordan Murphy of Cameron, NC. Aven is also survived by her maternal and paternal grandparents: Rick and Kelly Philips, Ed and Virginia Jones, John and Cathy Murphy. A private service with immediate family will be held at the Philips Family farm for Aven, on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM. The family would like to thank the staff at Duke University Hospital for their care of Aven. The Family would also like to thank the Community surrounding the parents to include the Moore County Sheriff's Office and all emergency services personnel who have stood by a fellow brother and his family while they are suffering. The Murphy Family will be forever grateful for the outpouring support for their little babe. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either the Ronald McDonald House of Durham or the Children's Heart Foundation whose mission is to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects (CHDs) by funding the most promising research. "People were also bringing babies to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to Him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18: 15-17. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com. During a family's time of loss, understandably family and friends would like to visit and express their sympathy. Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services asks that during this difficult time for the safety and well-being of the family, please keep touching and contact to a minimum. We ask if you have visited outside of the USA in the last two weeks or if you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms to please wait and visit with the family at a later time. You may contact the family by email, place an online condolence on our website or give the family a phone call. Again, we understand this is a difficult time but we encourage exhibiting safety and courtesy to everyone involved in these services. The mandate from Governor Cooper includes funerals, visitations and all services, so we must limit the attendance until further notice. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this unprecedented situation.
