Athelene Lewis Bone

Athelene Lewis Bone, 86, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009. She was born in Nash County April 23, 1923 to the late Leonard A. and Anna Nobles Lewis. Mrs. Bone was the former owner and operator of Sam Bone Jewelers and was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Samuel Bone, Sr., a sister, Mariam L. Langley and brothers, Leonard A. Lewis, Benjamin T. Lewis and Tommy C. Lewis. She is survived by a daughter, Claudia Bone Jones and husband, Frank of Monticello, KY; a son, John S. Bone, Jr. and wife, Myra of Kitty Hawk; sister, Joanne Grubbs of Deep Run; brother, James Lewis of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Ginger Adams, Kim Wells, John Brady Bone and Ashley Ladd and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Cloer officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 906 4th St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909 or to Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
