Andrew “Drew” Wayne Harrell

January 31, 1944 ~ January 22, 2019

ROCKY MOUNT - Andrew "Drew" Wayne Harrell, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Henderson County, NC on January 31, 1944, he was the son of the late Andrew David Harrell and Cornelia Martin Harrell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Harrell. Drew was the proud husband of Theresa Haggerty Harrell, a wonderful father to Mary Bridget Harrell of Wilmington and Chandler Harrell of Raleigh, as well as a beloved "Grand" to Holden Harrell, Chandler Harrell, and Carr Bender. He was also a special brother-in-law to Michael and Barton Haggerty. Drew was a goal setter; achieving many of his goals starting at an early age. He loved Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout award and the Order of the Arrow. He received many honors in his high school years, served in the US Air Force, returning to graduate Cum Laude from NC Wesleyan College. Drew began his career in marketing at Hardee's Food Systems, becoming an entrepreneur when he and Theresa founded Consumer Concepts, Inc. After a lengthy time in business, he and Theresa moved to Morehead City, eventually selling the business, and starting another venture A. Harrell and Associates, Inc., building custom homes along the Crystal Coast. His philosophy was "there is little difference between a promotional product and a custom home, you were simply building a product to make your customer happy". Last, but not least, Drew recently established a Men's Bridge Club at Benvenue Country Club. Since his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer, being a people person has kept him busy making as much out of his limited time as possible. He has been blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors, and his family is grateful to each for their continued friendship and support during his cancer battle. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount with Father Michael Butler officiating.
