Amy “Lorene” Barnes Murchison

ROCKY MOUNT - Amy “Lorene” Barnes Murchison, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Nash County, NC on August 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Needie Clarence Barnes and Amy Stancil Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy C. Murchison; a son, John L. “Larry” Murchison; and her sister, Betty Barnes Cavanaugh.
Lorene leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son, Ken Murchison of Rocky Mount; granddaughter, Marianne Murchison of Henderson; great-grandson, Charles David Skeeter of Cary; great-granddaughter, Payton Hunt of Henderson; two special nieces; and three special great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I loved Rene Rene like a second mother. She loved me like a daughter. I have wonderful memories of Sunday dinners, holidays and handmade gifts, and her hot biscuits! I miss her already, but I know she is at peace with no suffering, pain, or worry now. She is with my mother, her beloved Dear, Leroy, and Larry. She now knows the peace of becoming spirit and light.
