Alton Wright Wells

Alton Wright Wells, 91, passed away June 4th, 2011. He was the son of the late John Jackson and Pauline Burnette Wells. He was preceded in death by his two brothers; John Jackson Wells, Jr. of Rocky Mount, and Sherrod Parker Wells of Knoxville, Tennessee and two sisters; Joyce Wells of Rocky Mount and Marie France of Rawlins, Wyoming. Mr. Wells graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was passionate about all things "Carolina". A World War II veteran, Alton served in the United States Army, Air Division. After serving his country, he worked in state and federal government as a statistician. Mr. Wells leaves to cherish his memory several nieces; Judy Wells of Rocky Mount, Joyce Russell and Jane Wells of Knoxville, Tennessee; nephews, John Wells of Rocky Mount, and Dwight and Sherrod France of Rawlins, Wyoming. Friends and family will gather to honor his life at a graveside service on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Pineview Cemetary, Rocky Mount, NC.
