ROCKY MOUNT - Albert Wayne Clark, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Born in Howard County, IN on February 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Albert Glen Clark and Lorenda Kathryn Clark. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ellen Bernice Schafer, Norma Jeanne Kelly, Margaret Ann Clark, and Martha Louise Clark; and his nephew, Duane Kent Kelly.
Wayne was a devoted husband and father, known for his dry humor, puns, and other witticisms. He was a quiet man, but his family depended on and respected him for his wisdom, practicality, ingenuity, and steadfast love. He was a committed Christian and a faithful example of God's witness in his life, never ashamed to testify about his Savior or his beliefs. He served in the church in many capacities for over 70 years until his early 90s, when illness forced him to remain home. His family especially treasures their memories of him reading from the Bible and praying during their devotions.
He was employed as a packaging engineer for Pet Milk and later for Ralston Purina at their headquarters in St. Louis, MO for many years, before moving to Rocky Mount to work with Abbott Laboratories in their Research and Development department, where he retired in 1992.
He loved reading, gardening, camping, hiking, water-skiing, and photography. Known for his mechanical and engineering skills, he performed his own home renovations and car repairs. He put himself through college by doing painting and wallpapering, which he learned from his father. He built his first camper, a pop-up trailer, traveling with his family and friends through 49 states, 5 Canadian provinces, many national parks and historic sites, 14 European countries, and much of Mexico. One of his last great joys was meeting his great-granddaughter.
Wayne is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Rosalie Evelyn Creager Clark; his son, Rodney (Laura) Clark; his daughter, Michele Clark; his grandchildren, Meredith (Savannah) Black, Kathryn Clark, and Jonathan Clark; his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Black; his sisters, Carolyn Sue Perry and Connie Kay Clark Wenger; his nieces, Debbie Kelly, Sabrina Spane Luckey, and Karen Wenger; and his nephews, Michael Wenger and Chris Spane.

May you Rest In Peace , you work here is done. Prayers for your family .
Your family was on my mind so I decided to call, but didn’t get an answer. Of course, I was a little worried so I researched. The tears hit me at work; to know that he had gone and I didn’t get to say goodbye to Papa Wayne, was a little hard. I know he was a man of faith and is now in a better place. Rest on in Heaven. Till we meet again. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to the Clark family. #alwaysfamily
