ROCKY MOUNT – George Edwards Rose, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Born in Nash County, NC on October 18, 1933, he was the son of the late I. Woodall Rose and Mary Edwards Rose. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. I. Woodall Rose, Jr. and David J. Rose.
George was an avid outdoorsman and bird hunter. He was a longtime member of the Roanoke and Tar River Gun Club. Through the years, George loved training bird dogs. He was a fan and supporter of Wake Forest University. A loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and dear friend to many, George will be forever missed and never forgotten.
George is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wayne Bulluck Rose; his sons, George Edwards Rose, Jr. and wife, Bethy, and Michael Scott Rose and wife, Mary Hadley; his grandchildren, George Edwards Rose, III, Elizabeth Woodall Rose, Belle Whitaker Rose, and Woodall Hoke Rose; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pineview Cemetery with Parker Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
The family would like to say a special thank you to George’s caretakers, Connie Grant and Dee Pulley and the caring staff at The Lodge of Rocky Mount.

A True Gentleman. First Class all the way.
Mr. Rose was a true gentleman. He was, and will continue to be, an enormous influence on my life. Although he will be missed, his memory will live on through all of the great stories everyone who knew him will continue to tell for generations to come.
Mr. Rose was such a special man and I will always cherish our time together. He will be missed by so many. Not a day goes by that I will not think of him when walking by. My condolences and prayers sent to Mrs. Rose and the rest of the family.
