James Kenneth “Ken” Lawson

ROCKY MOUNT - James Kenneth "Ken" Lawson, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Born in Durham County, NC on October 28, 1937, he was the son of the late James Bruce Lawson and Grace Bryant Lawson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Kaye Lawson Wheeless; and his sister, Patricia "Ann" Lawson Killian. Ken served in the US Air Force. He retired after 42 years of dedicated service as a salesman with Brame Specialty Company, Inc. Ken was a longtime member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Lake Gaston. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family. Ken is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Horner Lawson of Rocky Mount; his son, James Gregory "Greg" Lawson and his wife, Britt, of Bahama; his grandchildren, Linda "Courtney" Wheeless, Daniel "Benjamin" Wheeless, James "Colton" Lawson, Nolan Hayes Lawson, and twins, Bristol Marie Lawson and Baylor Elizabeth Lawson; her son-in-law, Daniel "Danny" Frederick Wheeless; and two nephews. A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating. Visitation with the family will be after the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home until 12:30 PM.
