Vincent "Vince" Charles Andracchio M.D.

ROCKY MOUNT — Dr. Vincent “Vince” Charles Andracchio, 97, passed away on August 27, 2026.  Born in Mount Carmel, PA, on March 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Ralph and Rose Andracchio.  He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Boykin Andracchio; his dear sister, Louise Mannion; and his brother, Charles Andracchio.

Growing up in Mount Carmel, PA, he graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School in 1947.  From there, he earned his degree from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD, in 1951, furthered his studies at Bucknell University, and earned a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, in 1956.  Following medical school, he practiced General Medicine in the U.S. Navy from 1957–1959 and in Mount Carmel, PA, from 1959–1962.  While in the Navy, he served as the medical officer aboard the USS Tidewater and was stationed in Pensacola, FL and Norfolk VA where he met the love of his life Sylvia Boykin.  In September of 1960, he and Sylvia married in Wilson, NC beginning a union that lasted 61 years until Sylvia’s death in 2020.  The couple then moved to Philadelphia so he could complete a residency in anesthesia at Jefferson Medical College.  After completing the residency in 1964, they settled in Rocky Mount, where he practiced anesthesiology at Parkview Hospital and then Nash General Hospital, serving as chairman of the Department of Anesthesia from 1971 until his retirement on December 31, 1993.

Throughout his career, he was a member of the N.C. Medical Society, Nash County Medical Society, American Society of Anesthesiologists, N.C. Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, International Anesthesia Research Society, and Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology.  A Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiologists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, he also served as president of both the N.C. Society of Anesthesiologists and the Nash County Medical Society.  Beyond medicine, he was chairman of the board at Rocky Mount Academy and a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Together, he and Sylvia enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and he especially treasured time spent with his children and five grandchildren.

Vince is survived by his daughters, Lisa Stone and husband, Paul, of Rocky Mount, Sylvia Saint-Amand and husband, Champ, of Fayetteville, and Maria Patterson of Rocky Mount, as well as his son, Vincent Charles Andracchio II, and wife, Genie, of Rocky Mount.  His grandchildren also survive him: Ann Dunn Andracchio and her wife, Elizabeth Constantine, of Winston-Salem; Tripp Andracchio and his wife, Jill, of Raleigh; Brice Andracchio and his wife, Kayla, of Raleigh; Davis Saint-Amand of Fayetteville; and Simon Stone of Rocky Mount. He was recently delighted with the addition of his great-grandson, Mac Constantine.  Also surviving are his brothers-in-law, Bill Mannion of Laurel, MD, and Bexley Boykin and his wife, Helen, of Sims, NC.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC  27804 with Father Nick Cottrill celebrating.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the home of Vince and Genie Andracchio, 205 Candlewood Road, Rocky Mount, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be given to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, or Rocky Mount Academy, 1313 Avondale Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.

  1. We are sad to hear that our neighbor has died. I have never met anyone as gentle, kind and willing to interact as Vince. I will miss seeing him sitting in his garage and lunching with Maria. He was one of a kind!
