Stephen Worley Anderson

Rocky Mount – Stephen Worley Anderson, age 74, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025.  Born in Knox County, TN on May 5, 1950, he was the son of the late Joel Howell Anderson, Jr. and Martha Gant Worley Anderson.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Elizabeth “Betsy” Haynes Anderson; his brother, Douglas Montgomery Anderson; his aunts, Christine Anderson, Angie Murphy (Jack), Alice Oxford (Wayne), Anna Worley, Jessie Smart (Walter), Ruth Kerley (Bill), and Jean Worley (Sam); his uncle, Sam Worley; and his first cousins, Neil and Stephen Worley.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Kathy Lawson Wood Anderson; his son and daughter-in-law, Blake Haynes Anderson (Raichel); his grandsons, Matthew Blake Alexander Anderson and Nathaniel Haynes Worley Anderson; his sisters, Claire Anderson Outten (Fred), Emily Anderson (Barry Spann), and Elizabeth Anderson Peters (Dave); his nephews, Alex Weatherly (Carrie), Joel Outten, and Scott Outten (Rebekah); his niece, Leigh Outten; and other extended family members and good friends.

A Celebration of Life Service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Saint James Episcopal Church, 545 Main Street, Belhaven, NC 27810.

The family would like to thank Nash Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Shelly Rhodes, for their care and compassion, Stephen’s cousins, Linda Oxford, Jan Maust, and Dr. Keith Lerro.
