Richard "Bunn" Jones

UPDATE NOTICE: (FUNERAL SERVICE TIME CHANGE)WEDNESDAY, MAY 31ST, 2023 @ 3:30 PM WHITAKERS – Richard “Bunn” Jones, age 84, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Born in Halifax County, NC on July 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Sollie James Jones and Mary Lee Merritt Jones. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Jones Talbott; his great-grandson, Kayden Rese Payton; and his brothers, Clarence Jones, Larry Jones, and C. G. Jones. Bunn was the owner and operator of Jones Plumbing Home Improvement, Inc. for many years. He enjoyed building and restoring old Ford cars when he could. Bunn loved his family as evidenced by the many custom homes he built for his family. He was a man who always spoke his mind and stood up for what he believed in, even if it meant going against the majority. Some may have called him stubborn, but he simply had strong convictions and was not easily swayed from his beliefs. Despite this, he was also a kind and caring individual who would buy you a shirt if you didn’t have one. A man of great faith, Bunn attended Gethsemane Baptist Church occasionally with his wife, Patsy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him. Bunn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patsy Jones; his daughter, Wanda Jones Moore and husband, Robby, of Whitakers; his grandchildren, Robert James Moore and wife, Charnele, Randa Lee Deans and husband, John “Rock”, and Robbyn Faye Moore; his great-grandchildren, Jeremiah James Deans, Amya Aaliyah Moore, Logan Lee Moore, and Jasper Bunn “JB” Deans; his sister, Gladys Jones Acrey; his brothers, Gene Jones and wife, Nancy, Roger Jones, and Bobby Jones and wife, Jeanell; his sisters-in-law, Carol Jones and Janette Wilder and husband, Allen; his brothers-in-law, Wayne Joyner and wife, Cheryl and Allen Joyner and wife, Erlene; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to celebrate Bunn’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Dennis Gregory, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at White Oak Cemetery in Whitakers. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
