Ramona Parker Baker

January 14, 1947 ~ December 3, 2024

Nashville – Ramona Parker Baker, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.  Born in Chambers County, AL on January 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Leroy Parker.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Edward Baker; her step-father, Allen Truman “Al” Devore; and her sister-in-law, Jean Parker.

A woman of great faith, Ramona was a longtime member of Northside Community Church.  She retired from Carolina Telephone Company after 21 years and following her retirement worked for RBC Bank for another 6 years.  A loving and dedicated daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and precious friend to many, Ramona will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Ramona is survived by her mother, Virginia McClure Devore; her sons, Rodney Allen Baker and Timothy “Tim” Edward Baker and wife, Sonnara; her grandchildren, Ashley Hulings and husband, Evan, Samantha Baker, Megan Aycock and husband, Larry, Joshua Baker, and Nicholas Baker and wife, Makayla; her great-grandchildren, Lucas Aycock, Emma Hulings, Maddox Aycock, Autumn Hulings, and Oakley Baker; her sister, Janice Koonce and husband, David; her brother, Ralph A. Parker; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Ramona’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Cemetery, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.  Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral and Cremation Services.

  7. Ramona welcomed me into the Baker family with characteristic, warmth and generosity. I had never cooked collards – she taught me how. On another occasion she shared her recipe and showed me how to make her Chicken Gumbo soup. She was direct, practical and had a generous spirit. She loved her children, grandchildren, and all deeply. We will all miss her very much!
