ROCKY MOUNT – Peggy Williams Butler, age 82, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. Born in Wake County, NC on February 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edward Bennett Williams and Thelma Eakes Williams. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Liles, Barbara Ray, and Donna Crabtree; and her fur baby, Simon.
Peggy, a dedicated member for many years of this church, formerly known as Union Missionary Church, merged with Cornerstone Community Church before adopting its current name of RiverBend Church, was known for her unwavering faith. She managed to attend Sunday school classes without ever being absent for 41 years straight. That level of dedication and commitment is truly impressive. Peggy's daily life was a testament to her strong belief in her Lord and Savior. Peggy had a heartwarming presence and treated everyone as if they were her own. Her love for her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was evident in the way she cared for them. Peggy's kindness extended beyond her family, as she was always there for her grandchildren's friends in times of need. People who knew her considered her the sweetest lady they had ever met, and she had a gift for making strangers feel welcome. In addition to her love for her family and faith, Peggy and her husband Pete enjoyed camping trips and fishing adventures together. Peggy had a passion for gardening and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful and well-kept garden. Just like her appearance, Peggy believed in always looking her best, taking care of her hair and makeup before going anywhere. While Peggy's absence is deeply felt, her spirit will continue to live on through the lives of all those she touched.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wilson Delano “Pete” Bulter; her sons, Joseph Wilson Butler and wife, Debra, of Winterville and Robert Wesley Butler of Sharpsburg; her grandchildren, Jackie Butler, Kayla Butler, Patrick Joseph Butler, Christian Taylor Butler and wife, Ashlyn, Justin Pollard and wife, Abby, and Jacob “Evan” Edge; her great-grandchildren, Spencer Pollard, Mason Dixon, William Dixon, Wyatt Pollard, and Walter Pollard; several nieces and nephew; and her fur babies, Bella and Coco.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 2:30 PM at RiverBend Church, 9853 NC 97, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 with Pastor Steve Webb and Pastor Ray Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of RiverBend Church.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Peggy’s memory to RiverBend Church, 9853 NC 97, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.

I remember Mrs Peggy from teaching my GA’s and Sunday school class. She was the sweetest person and really lived her faith by pouring into the next generation.
