Mildred Carol Rowland Batchelor

ROCKY MOUNT – Mildred Carol Rowland Batchelor, age 75, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on April 27, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Henry Thaxton Rowland, Jr. and Glennie Jessie Barrett Rowland. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Johnnie Mac Batchelor; her brothers, Henry T. Rowland, III, David Rowland, and Irvin Rowland; and her sister, Lilah Ann Gray. Mildred retired from Hardee’s Corp with 25 years of service. She went on to work at NC Wesleyan University and retired after 17 years. In her free time, Mildred was known to seek out local yard sales and flea markets. She enjoyed everything Christmas and loved spending it with her family. Mildred will be truly missed by all who knew her. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Cassandra “Cass” McLatchy of Rocky Mount and Charlotte “Beth” Winfree and husband, William, of Garner; her grandchildren, Victoria McLatchy Davis and husband, Kevin and Lindsey Winfree Cullen and husband, Andy; her brother, Lawrence Eugene Rowland and wife, Sheiloh; and her sisters, Gerri Taylor and husband, Michael, and Glennie Ainsworth and husband, Jim. A Celebration of Mildred’s Life will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home until 4:00 PM.
