ROCKY MOUNT – McClarey Gibbs Timmons took his first breath in the Glory of Heaven on Thursday February 29th, 2024. McClarey was born on August 4th, 1960, to the late Margret Timmons Ledbetter. McClarey lived a good portion of his life in Fort Myers, Florida before moving to North Carolina.
McClarey absolutely loved to sit on a five-gallon bucket with a fishing pole on the water bank. All those fish stories were actually true; he really did always catch the biggest fish. He was a hard worker that was tough as nails. All the scars he carried didn’t stop him from being the funniest man in the group. He had a light about him that was big enough just for him to carry. McClarey always made a way for anyone around him.McClarey is survived by his siblings: Bonnie Wheaton, Margret Lockheart, Chyanne Harris, Noretha Timmons, Edell Timmons and Norris Ledbetter (and wife Nancy). Children: McClarey Timmons, Rochelle Starks, Malcolm Timmons, Johnathan Hallmon and Brianna Anderson and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Also, Beverly Sue (Baby), who he called wife and the love of his life, the one who was always there in thick and thin. Through trials and happiness, in time of need and abundance. The one he truly felt like he could love with his whole heart and that love be given back. Along with her children Maranda and Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Clarissa Timmons, brothers Kirkland Smith and Taylor Timmons, and his sister Wyoming Timmons.McClarey was a big man that people didn’t know was easy to love. The people in his life that didn’t figure that out really missed out. He was a true gift.
A Funeral Service to celebrate McClarey’s life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Tim Sauls officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

What can you say about this gentle.giant..He was my brother from another Mother. Our families were close and our church family was even closer. McClarey will surely be missed. His presence was intimidating buy he was a fun loving person. Rest In Paradise my brother. God Bless and keep your family as they go through the mourning process and prepare to celebrate your physical time with them. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
