Lee Purvis Weeks

NASH COUNTY - Lee Purvis Weeks, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones, after a three-year battle with cancer. Lee was born in Nash County, NC on January 27, 1948. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Johnston; her father, Conrad Purvis; and her stepfather, Ed Johnston. Lee was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with family at the beach. Whether doting on her grandchildren or embarking on jet ski adventures with her husband, her zest for life enriched the lives of those around her. Lee was a passionate gardener with a green thumb, a dedicated bird watcher and a lover of animals. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her. Lee is survived by her husband, Clifton “Cliff” Weeks III; her son, Jason Weeks and wife, Christy, of Winterville; and her beloved granddaughters, Mary Catherine Weeks and Baker Weeks also of Winterville. She is also survived by Cliff’s and Jason’s Aunt Kay Gurganus of Rocky Mount, who has worked tirelessly and lovingly to support both Lee and Cliff Weeks during her illness. A Celebration of Lee’s Life and Legacy for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home until 4:00 PM. The family appreciates the excellent caregivers for the special care and love they gave Lee during her final weeks of life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lee’s memory to either Samaritan's Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
