Knotts Island – James “Arttie” Arthur Bohren, age 57, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born in Norfolk, VA on June 17, 1967, he was the son of the late Merton Arnold Bohren and Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Clark. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Randle “Randy” Bohren; his sister, JoAnna Clark.
Arttie was a man who brought joy wherever he went. Full of life, laughter, and quick with a joke, he was the heart of every gathering—the one who could lift anyone’s spirits with his smile and warm, carefree nature. He wasn’t just the joker of the family; he was the soul of it—one of a kind, unforgettable, and deeply selfless.
A proud lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Arttie built his life and career in the place he loved most. He spent over 25 years as a dedicated plumber, owning and operating AAA Plumbing, a business he named after his sons—a true reflection of his love for family. Always hardworking and fiercely independent, he poured his heart into his work and his community. On the side, he enjoyed driving for Oceanfront Limousines, where his charm and easygoing spirit made every ride memorable.
But Arttie’s life was more than just work—it was adventure, music, and the sea breeze on his face. He had a passion for the ocean and all it offered—boating, jet skiing, fishing, and riding his bike along the boardwalk. Reggae music was his soundtrack, a perfect match for his laid-back, free-spirited nature. He loved the thrill of a roller coaster and spent many days chasing that rush at Busch Gardens—always a daredevil, always up for fun.
Above all, Arttie’s life was defined by the people he loved. His selflessness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends made him truly special. His memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the joy he brought to every life he touched.
Arttie was more than unforgettable—he was irreplaceable. And though his journey here has ended, his spirit, his love, and his laughter will live on forever.
Arttie is survived by his sons, James “Alex” Bohren, Jacob “Aaron” Bohren and his wife, Alicia and Johnathon “Andrew” Bohren, all of Virginia Beach; his sister, Theresa “Terrie” Ann Bohren of Rocky Mount; his brother, William “Bill” Clark, III of Herford, NC. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Arttie’s life will take place in Virginia Beach VA at a later date.
The family would like to say a special thanks to all of Arttie’s friends that have reached out with their thoughts and prayers.
