Herbert Gorham Vick

NASHVILLE – Herbert Gorham Vick, age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024.  Born in Nash County, NC on March 22, 1940, he was the son of the late Dewey Robert Vick and Geraldine Viverette Vick.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Benjamin Vick, David Vick, Paul Vick, Darcey Vick and Harvey Vick; and his sister, Roberta Winstead.  Herbert was from a family of 11 children of the Sandy Cross Community.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 63 years and caregiver, Barbara Vick; his two children, Debbie Dew and husband, Michael, and Rev. Dallas Ray Vick and wife, Mary Ann; his sisters, Nellie “Nub” G. Vick, Pearl Crumpler, Lois Perry and husband, Allen, and Wavery Taylor and husband, Allen; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Herbert’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Jerry Braziel officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
