NASHVILLE - Elmer "Pops" Gray Evans, Sr., age 79, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on September 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Raleigh Elmo Evans and Enda Mae Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Maydock Evans, Sr.; and son-in-law, Mack Trevathan.
Pops leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, Elmer "Gray" Evans, Jr. of Nashville, Ronnie Evans and wife, Kristen, of Nashville, and Johnny Evans and fianc, Rebecca Parks, of Burlington; and daughter, Annette Trevathan of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by grandchildren, John Michael Evans, Kelsey Nicole Evans, Christopher Allen Trevathan, Christie Michelle Hall, Brandon Lee Trevathan, Kaylen Georgette Evans, Ryleigh Elise Evans, great-grandchildren, Kayla Michelle Hall and Haley Jo Trevathan; brothers, Jack Evans, and Charlie Evans and wife, Linda; and sisters, Tempie Tolston, and Fannie Harper and husband, Bobby.
A Celebration of Pops' Life will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount with Rev. Larry Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
