ROCKY MOUNT - Edward "Ed" Charles Shaffer, Sr., age 70, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019. He was the son of the late Lambert Shaffer and Emma Danyi Shaffer. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Shaffer.
Ed was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He retired after 31 years of dedicated work at the Newport News, VA Shipyard. Ed was an avid Steelers fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 43 years, Beth Eken Shaffer; son, Edward "Ed" Charles Shaffer, Jr. and wife, Joyce Robey; and daughter, Heather Roberts and husband, Marty. He is also survived by grandchildren, Madison Roberts, Robbie Talbert III, Ashlee Shaffer, and Jordon Shaffer; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Shaffer and Lil Ronnie Tolbert.
