Rocky Mount – Dr. Eduardo Oscar Marsigli otherwise known as “Dr. E”, age 82, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Eduardo Marsigli and Santa Marsigli. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Suzanne Jones Marsigli; his third wife, Melissa Barnette Marsigli; and his twin brother, Dr. Adolfo H. “Dr. A.” Marsigli. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Karyl Marsigli, his five sons, Jeffrey, Jamie, Jonathan, Joshua, and Justin, and his long-time family friend, Kena Rogers.
In 1969 a young doctor arrived in the United States after completing medical school at the University of Buenos Aires. Dr. E settled in Rocky Mount, NC and began a successful career as an orthopedic surgeon alongside his twin Dr. A. They paved the way for many advances in Orthopedic Care in the community. Their legacy was solidified by a wonderful ceremony dedicating the Orthopedic floor at Nash General to their devotion to Orthopedics. Dr. E practiced for a total of 55 years. His life was dedicated to medicine, caring for people in his community and in turn he was loved and respected by many. The hospital has yet to disclose how many broken bones Dr. E repaired over his 45 years of practice in Rocky Mount!
The active, charming, accomplished man so many knew and loved was once a boy growing up in Argentina surrounded by his family that is still adored by him. During his years in Argentina, he wrestled, was a lifeguard, was in the military, just to name a few things. Cooking and eating milanesas was another passion he had as he wanted to introduce his roots to all of us here. He continued being active his entire life. He was often at the shooting range, relished skiing with his sons, and was quite the competitor in racquet sports.
Fathering five sons and having five grandchildren filled “Abuelo’s” life with noise, laughter, and the dispensing of advice both solicited and unsolicited. His sons, Jamie and wife, Allison, Jeffrey and wife, Nicole, Jonathan and wife, Beth, Joshua and wife, Penny, and Justin will always remember him as a devoted father who was always there and offered advice in his own way. His grandchildren, who called him “Abuelo”, will always remember the loving generosity that he always showered them with. Dr. E’s home was always open to his extended family from Argentina who visited often filling the house with stories and laughter. He also had admiration for his nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and of course his dog ‘Vida’.
A Special Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
A private celebration of Dr. E’s life will be held at a later date.

I loved this man! My Daddy fell and broke many bones and Dr. E was so compassionate with him and the entire family. Daddy was 92 and Dr. E said to me…your Daddy is very tired and he completely laid out honestly the plan for him and it was going to be long and very difficult. Dr. E allowed us to take Daddy home and at home, peacefully, he passed away…Dr. E had healthy protein bars in his pocket and he gave one to me, it was sooo kind and thoughtful …what a wonderful man…he and Dr. A are together again😢❤️
Many memories of my 25 years working for the brothers…they hold a special place in my heart. I am sending my sincere condolences, and asking God to grant you all peace and comfort for the days ahead.
We are sending deepest sympathy, love, prayers and blessings to all the family.
“Dr. E” was a special friend through the years in many medical ways and even gave us a ride after our car trouble on the side of the road. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
God bless.
I worked with Dr E for years along with Dr A. They were so good to me throughout the years. My heart breaks for family and friends. He was a wonderful man and Doctor. May the Lord bless his boys and their families with peace.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss as a family. May peace and comfort be with you all.
Eduardo will be greatly missed. We shared many thoughtful interactions over the years, especially at the gym. I have many fond memories. Susan and I share a heartfelt salute to Eduardo and are thankful for his long life of service to the community along with his brother Adolfo.
Everyone’s ears in the office would perk up when we heard “Drs Orders” which meant we were going to Just What the Dr Ordered for lunch.
Anyway, Jeffrey, Jamie, Jonathan, Joshua, and Justin, my prayers are with you and and your family. I pray that GOD’s love and peace be with you.
Your dad was a great man and I’m sure he will be truly missed by many.
sincerely, Lisa H Osborne
