Doris Jernigan Wooten

ROCKY MOUNT - Doris Jernigan Wooten, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021. Born in Wayne County, NC on June 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lester Paul Jernigan, Sr. and Thelma Elizabeth Jernigan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Essex Maddry Wooten; her brother, Lester Paul Jernigan, Jr.; and her grandson, Phillip Pugh. Doris is survived by her son, David B. Wooten (Maribeth) of Surfside Beach; her daughters, Mary Gwendolyn "Gwen" Wooten of Rocky Mount and Susan W. Hopper (Thomas) of Rochester, NH; her grandchildren, Brian Dodson, Phillip Pugh, Andrew Wooten, Samantha Dorris, Ashley Doiel, Matthew Hopper, and Taylor Hopper; her great-grandchildren, Lawson Wooten, Callie Wooten, Rhylan Robinson, Brayden Robinson, Skylar Dodson, and McKinley Dodson; her sister, Joyce Jernigan Davis; and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Jay Wooten officiating.
