Charles "Charlie" Franklin Threatt, Sr.

September 30, 1943 ~ May 31, 2023

BATTLEBORO – Charles “Charlie” Franklin Threatt, Sr., age 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on September 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Frank Hope Threatt and Margaret Lila Works Threatt Winters. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 1/2 years, Deliah “Dee” Hooker Threatt; his step-father, Tom Winters; his brother, Stephen Craig Threatt; his sister, Carol Threatt Wallace and her husband, Bob; and his sister-in-law, Donna Berkholder Threatt. Charlie was a man of many passions and accomplishments. As the son of the founder of Threatt Plumbing, he carried on the family business and ensured its continued success through three generations, now known as Threatt, Inc. Charlie's passions, extended far beyond the plumbing and fire sprinkler industry, his love for hunting and fishing led him on many trips with his close group of friends to locations all over the country. Charlie was also a committed and dedicated Scout Master for Troop 11, where he mentored, inspired, and guided young men, instilling in them the importance of giving back to their community and to become their best selves. He was a firm believer in the power of giving and was recognized for his service and commitment to community with the North Carolina Governor's Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award. Charlie will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and special friend and his memory will live on through the many lives he has touched. Charlie is survived by his sons, Charles Franklin “Frank” Threatt, Jr. of Tarboro and Daniel “Danny” Hooker Threatt and wife, Robin, of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Daniel Hooker Threatt, II and wife, Rachel, and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Renee Threatt; his great-granddaughter, Vivian Reneigh Threatt; his brothers, Phil Hope Threatt and wife, Laurin of FL and Harry Lee Threatt of Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews; and special relationships that have been created and cherished over the years. A Funeral Service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Billy Webb officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Danny and Robin. The family would like to say a special thanks to UNC Hospital – UNC Heart and Vascular, Dr. Kirkwood Adams, Jana Glotzer for keeping Charlie in good health. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charlie’s memory to Boy Scouts of America, 617 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   1. Charlie and I became acquainted in 1972 through business, but we soon became fast friends through duck hunting. I have fantastic memories and some good pictures of our adventures over the years. You will be sorely missed!

  9. Uncle Charlie was my Daddys best friend. My daddy Steve Daughety passed away almost 27 years ago. These two amazing men taught me so much as a young girl and growing teenager. There are so many memories of these two thst I will cherish forever. I know there is one happy man in heaven.
