Betsy Lee Hearn

October 6, 1951 ~ January 29, 2025

Born in: Wayne County, NC
Resided in: Rocky Mount, NC

Rocky Mount – Betsy Lee Hearn, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.  Born in Wayne County, NC on October 6, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Columbus Lee and Eva Brown Lee.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Anita Lee Barton and Bobbie Lee Williams.

A joyous child of God, Betsy was a long-time member of Englewood Baptist Church.  A graduate of Wake Radiology Technology, she was an X-Ray Technician for over 25 years until her retirement from Rocky Mount Urology after the birth of her granddaughter.  Betsy would always recall a line once spoken to her by an elderly wise man, “To serve others is the greatest of all gifts to God’s people.”  She centered everything she did in life around her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family, whom she adored.  In her spare time, she especially loved traveling to the family beach home where she would take in the sunsets as she gazed upon the horizon.  Betsy felt that the peace and joy of the ocean was simply amazing and that it was God’s way of painting a portrait showcasing his power and awesomeness.  In addition to spending time with her family and traveling, she also enjoyed crafting wreaths and other arrangements which she would share with those she loved.  A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many, Betsy will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Betsy is survived by her husband, James Herbert “Jim” Hearn, Jr.; her daughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Blaylock (Bryan); her granddaughter, Grace Alford; her sister, Diana Lee Davis; her brothers, Rodney Lloyd Lee (Sally), Christopher Adam “Chris” Lee (Media’), and Julius Nicholus “Nick” Lee (Sandra); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dearest friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Betsy’s life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount, NC 27803, with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating.  A Private Family Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Englewood Baptist Church.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. The “kid sister” I never had as an only child, Betsy will always be there in cherished memories…

  2. I was blessed to have Betsy hire me for my first fulltime Radiology job at Community Hospital. She was always the most caring person who truly loved all of her “x-ray family” like her own. I know she is healed now in Heaven even though our hearts are heavy on earth. Our love, thoughts and prayers to you, Jim and Jenny and family.

  3. Freddie and I have fond memories of Betsy and Jim in our younger days. Betsy has always been a devoted and caring person. Grace was her greatest joy. She will be missed but her spirit will always be with us all. May God be your comfort, Jim and family, during this time of sorrow and grief.
