ROCKY MOUNT – Barry Wallace Farnsworth, age 83, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025. Born in Hampden County, MA on July 18, 1941, he was the son of the late Eldridge Wallace Farnsworth and Dorothy Matthews LaBree.
Barry picked Connecticut Longleaf Tobacco as a child to help support his family. He played any sport he could and excelled at them. He waterskied. He sang a song on the radio. He joined the Army Reserves. He found work in the shoe business and he traveled. Above all else, he built a family which mattered more to him than anything else he did. Part of his personality was his ability to make friends wherever he traveled in his years in the shoe business and years on many golf courses. His unique and open sense of humor was loved by many. Barry will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Barry was a loving husband to Robyn, his wife of 51 years; father to his five sons, Jeff, Mark, Scott, Christopher, and Patrick; and grandfather to Kyle and Blake.
A Special Gathering of family and friends to celebrate Barry’s life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Barry, but I do know his son Jeff and if Barry was anything like his son, what a big lost to this world it is. May God bless Barry and keep him by his side in Heaven. My deepest condolences to the Fansworth family.
Barry and Robyn and their two youngest sons were our next door neighbors for many years in Rocky Mount. We love this family and although Barry was often on the go, we understood how important his family was to him. He will be missed. Prayers for Robyn and the boys. May they find peace and comfort.
