William Taft Eason

August 19, 1948 ~ November 7, 2011

William Taft Eason, the youngest son of John Stephen and Prudy Peace Eason, died Monday, November 7, 2011, at the age of 63. He had fought a valiant battle against an aggressive cancer in his lungs. He fought the good fight over the last ten months and lived each day with a hope for a cure. William made a profession of faith as a young boy and recommitted his life to Christ in later years. He found a faithful heavenly Father and a loving Savior ready to greet him on Monday evening along with family members who had preceded him in death: his father and mother, a brother John Stephen Eason, Junior, two nieces Tresa Lynn Farmer and Cindy Kaye Hayes, two brothers-in-law Charles Edward Hayes and Jerome Henry Maier, and sister-in-law Cathie Eason. He leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish his memory his friend, companion, sweetheart, and dear wife of just over a year Theresa Harrell Eason; one brother, Earnest Lynwood Eason; seven sisters, Ellen (Bill) Blount, Mary Alice Maier, Ann Hayes, Julia (L.W.) Farmer, Brenda (Peaches) Brewer, Leona (Marshall) Pridgen, and Esther Eason, and sister-in-law, Genevieve Eason. He also leaves his many cherished nieces and nephews who loved him dearly as well as his faithful pal, Mr. Black. William is survived and will be remembered by his extended family of countless cousins in the S'Eason of Peace clan. He also leaves behind the many friends that he had made over the years. He never seemed to meet a stranger and gave generously of his time, his finances, and himself to those who needed him. William loved music and was a natural musician. A self-taught guitarist, he was always ready for a jam session or a reunion sing-a-long. Although he seldom performed before an official audience, William always attracted an audience when he was picking his guitar. William was a jack of all trades and the master of many. He was a skilled craftsman who had worked on many construction projects through the years. He had great pride and satisfaction in his most recent employment with Primary Beginnings, a child development agency in the Raleigh area. There he worked beside his wife Theresa serving as the maintenance engineer and the official "Go-To" man for any and all emergencies or needs. He delighted in taking care of every situation and loved being "Mr. William" to all the kids. William served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed for a portion of his military career in Korea. Arrangements are being lovingly handled by Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. A public visitation will be held at Parkwood Baptist Church on Thursday, November 10, 2011, from 12:30 until 2:15, followed by a celebration of William's life beginning at 2:30. Burial will follow at the Rocky Mount Memorial Gardens. The family will also be receiving visitors at the home of Julia and L.W. Farmer. Our gratitude is extended to the doctors in Rocky Mount who worked with William; Dr. York, Dr. Goforth, Dr. Ramiah, and staff person Jennie Bailey from the VA Hospital; Brenda Respess of Nash Hospice; as well as the excellent service staff of Respracare, Inc. All of these dedicated people served him with love and compassion during his treatment time. Additional thanks are expressed to the Parkwood Baptist Church and NorthSide Community Church families for their love, prayers, and support. A special thank you is given to the Sunday school class who "brought church" to William. So many people have been gracious to the family in the past months, but a loving thank you to Annie Bartholomew must be said for the wonderful meals and faithful love that this "sister" has given. Also, deep love and appreciation is expressed to the faithful family members, Mary Alice Maier and Brenda and Peaches Brewer who accompanied William and Theresa for each of his treatments. A debt of love is owed to Julia and L.W. Farmer who opened their home to William and Theresa during his last weeks so that they were constantly surrounded by love and compassion. Flowers will be lovingly received, but the family encourages gifts to be made in William's memory to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville NC 27834 or to Nash Hospice Care, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount NC 27804. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I first remember meeting William over ten years ago when my husband’s uncle, Ronnie Bass took us over to William’s house on Hunter Hill Rd. Come to find out my parents lived in that same house for many years after they got married. William welcomed my husband & I into his home and his heart. We began to visit William quite often and always had a great time when we were with him.Every time I saw him, he had a smile on his face and had the remarkable ability to put a smile on everybody else’s face. He was quite the musician and was always willing to play a song for me whenever I saw him. He always brought a smile to my face and I will never forget what a kind and warm heart he had. This world has lost a great person, but Heaven has surely gained a great angel. We will miss you William!!!!

  2. I’M SO GLAD WE HAD THE TIME OF SEEING ONE ANOTHER AT THE V.A. HOSPITAL. JESUS IS SOON TO RETURN FOR HIS CHURCH AND ALL THE REDEEMED WILL BE RE-UNITED AGAIN – THIS TIME THERE WILL BE NO MORE SICKNESS – (HAL-LE-LU-JAH) – NO MORE SADNESS, SORROW, AND WE’LL NEVER EXPERIENCE BEING SEPARATED AGAIN!!!!!
