  1. I called him pops and he called me funky, even his wife called me by that name some time, i have no words that would even began to express my feelings&friendship for these two wonderful people. The memories will always be there.

  2. Dear Ellen, Do you remember an old voice from the past, Helen Brabham, I was surprised and sorry to see Alberts death in the paper. Years go by so quickly and I slowing down so much. Im sorry about your loss and I have walked the road you are walking, today. I lost my dear husband, Gerald, 23 years ago and I still miss him every day. I pray for you and wish- that you find a way to remember. May the loving memories of him , live in your heart forever. May the love of your family and friends strengthen and comfort you. I pray that the love of God will give you peace, rest and joy until we meet him and others who have gone home before us! Love and prayers, Helen Brabham

  3. Grandpa Evans; everybody that knows him, knows that he iswas always coming up with cool names for everyone! He called me his Kim Vonne! The memorable moments I will always cherish. Start as a child as he would pick me and my sisters up and take us to his paradise at Salter Path aka Atlantic Beach. We would ride in his big blue truck. We would sing all the way there listening to 8track music he loved Willie, Waylon, Possum, Randy Travis. We all would stop at Neuse Sports shop in Kinston on our journey to our paradise. We would finally get to Salter Path and race to the ocean. My Grandpa taught us how to swim. He would say there is only one way to do it. Sink or Swim! Christmas was always a ball.. We would go and share our love starting off with grandmother cooking her vegetables, my aunts with the sweets, especially aunt Susie’s banana pudding and Grandpa and all the men would start early cooking pig. We would all wait til our family made it to Grandpa and Grandma’s then would eat. We would get up and clean up the area in his barnshop. He had three guitars and mics. The men would sing. Then dancing later on. We would always get underwear and a bible. So much fun!! Last memory was special, he didn’t want me to leave the hospital. He asked me for a milkshake, ice cream, cream puff aka donut from krispy kreme! I was just a talking he said you have not stopped talking since you’ve been here! I said because I am so happy you are awake and want food. He asked me to take him home. I sure wish I could have. Instead he went home with my uncle Buddy. I am sure going to miss you! I love you always and forever Grandpa Evans!! Until we meet again on the other shore…. kisses and hugs… Love always, Kim Vonne aka Kimberly Yvonne Cone Hackney, your granddaughter forever…..
