Rupert Troy Allen

ROCKY MOUNT – Rupert Troy Allen, age 96, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Born in Halifax County, NC on October 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Gilbert Lamar Allen and Ida Sue White Allen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Dozier Allen; his son-in-law, Shelton Fisher; his sisters, Mildred Frances Allen Pittard, Geraldine Allen Bass, and Audrey Marie Allen Whitehead; and his brothers, Elton Few Allen, Gilbert Cephus Allen, Calvin Allen, and Graham White Allen. A man of great faith, Troy was a long-time member of Benvenue Baptist Church. He was a United States Marine veteran and retired from Burlington Industries after 30 years of dedicated service. An avid gardener, Troy loved helping his fellow neighbors with anything they needed. A loving and dedicated father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend to many, he will be forever missed and never forgotten. Troy is survived by his son, Nicholas Troy Allen and wife, Joan; his daughters, Ann Allen Fisher, and Sue Allen Stone and husband, Mike; his grandchildren, Troy Allen and wife, Rachael, Sandi Allen, Heather Allen, Kelly Taylor, Allen Fisher and wife, Chrissy, Nicholas Fisher and wife, Ashton, Benjamin Croom and wife, Stacey, Brian Stone and wife, Sarah, and Amy Collier and husband, Steven; his 13 great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Benvenue Baptist Church, 2464 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Benvenue Baptist Church.   1. If I could live my life over, I would aspire to be a little more like Troy and a little less like me…many will especially miss his green thumb in the garden. My condolences to his extensive family and his many friends.
