ROCKY MOUNT - Ronald "Dean" Metcalf, Sr., age 76, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. Born in Wellsboro, PA on January 9, 1946, he was the son of the late Helen Fairbrother. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Johnny Fairbrother; and his son, Ronald Metcalf, Jr. Dean was actively involved in his church, Ridgecrest Worship Center, loved to travel and was an electrician for CSX railroad for over 20 years. He was known for his ability to fix almost anything. Dean Metcalf is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine Metcalf, 3 children, Rachelle Nichols and spouse Harold, Dr. Richard Metcalf and wife Suzanne, Renee Peele and husband GT, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC with Pastor Doug Bowers officiating. A private burial will be held at a later time at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Ridgecrest Worship Center. Ronald “Dean” Metcalf, Jr., age 48, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born in Elmira NY on January 26, 1966, he was the son of Ronald Dean Metcalf, Sr. and Catherine Garrahan Metcalf, both of Rocky Mount. Dean was an auto mechanic and was also in the towing service. An avid racing fan, he enjoyed local dirt track racing. Along with his parents, he leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Kaye Parker Metcalf; three children, Robert Jackson, Melissa Jackson and Jennifer Valadez; eight grandchildren; one brother, Richard Metcalf and wife Suzanne; two sisters, Rachelle Nichols and husband Harold and Renee Peele and husband G.T.; and seven nieces and nephews. A service to remember Dean will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Potter officiating. Visitation with the family will be 12:00pm to 1:45pm prior to the service. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N.
