Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
Captain Lockey will always be remembered by his contagious laughter, and smile, and leadership to his men on the Raleigh Police Department. He was a true leader and will always be remembered. I’m so sorry for this untimely loss. May God bless his family during these difficult times. Mike Murray
Our time here on this earth is limited. We each strive to achieve different goals and follow different paths. Some succeed in being a good husband or wife, some at being a good father or mother and some in their chosen professions and careers. Few, very few, succeed in all three. Nelson Lockey, Captain, Raleigh Police Department, Retired, was indeed one of those who succeeded in all these endeavors with grace, dignity and distinction. Those that knew him in any or all of these realms were truly blessed. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do in the many seeds you have planted during your full and wonderful life. We know you are looking down on us and continuing to keep a watchful and proud eye. Rest in Peace my brother you have earned it. Hil Miller
Won’t ever forget when I was working with Nelson I was making a search with a search warrant on Edenton St. After completing the search and finishing my paperwork the subject later came to the PD to complain on me. Nelson’s words were Detective Narron did his job in the manner he should have done it and you can get out of my office. Now that was back when the supervisors stood up for their men. That made me work harder due to the way he looked after his men. Rest in peace my good friend.
We are so sorry for you loss, Capt. Lockey was a good man and we thought alot of him. So sorry we can not be there Sunday but you will be in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you all the strength you need to get through this difficult time. Love and many prayers. John and Ellen Knox
Sorry I will not make the services, but just know how sorry I am for your lose. Your father was my very first supervisor on the Raleigh Police Department. He taught me a lot and I took they values with me my entire career. Please accept my deepest sympathies. M.W. Keeler

I am proud to have known you & served with you. You have done so much for so many & have touched so many lives. I do not ever remember not seeing a smile on your face. May God bless you & your family. Captain Jimmy Brown Retired Wake County Sheriff’s Department.
Nelson was was a year ahead of me at LHS but I remember him as a fine person. He and his siblings would often visit my dad’s store (Jones Trading Post) that was about a block from his boyhood home. May you feel God’s presence in your life as you mourn the death of Nelson. Dan Jones Wilson, NC
I am proud to have you serve the City Of Raleigh as my Capt. Even more proud to have known you as my friend. Thank you for your service to our country and city.
Oh, dear, dear Kay, Jane and I were shocked and saddened when we read at five p.m. Nelson’s obituary in the paper. It was too late to be with you at the funeral. I am so sorry. Our hearts go out to you, my dear, and now you can come to dinner or lunch with us in our new home. We know what it is like to lose a loved one. There will be some blank spaces now that we can try to help fill. Don’t make any hasty decisions now, just trust in The Lord, who specializes in looking after widows and orphans. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you, and we won’t either. We love you, Jane and Janice Gravely.

Nelson, you have always been a good friend to me and my wife. I will miss our talks on our Scottish history. You will be missed and always loved.
I regret I was not able to attend the service for my old friend Nelson as I could not leave my wife as she is recovering from two recent surgeries. He quickly became my friend when he came to us in the old Detective Div. at RPD. I never saw him without his big smile. He was a huge assect to RPD and is remember favorable by all who knew him. May God comfort the hearts of all his love ones.
The Bible promises that those who have died will be resurrected to a paradise earth. (John 528,29) Communicate your feeling, Kind words will cheer you up. (Prov. 1225) Keeping your feeling bottled up inside may make it difficult for you to deal with your grief. On the other hand, discussing your feelings with someone you trust will open the way for you to receive kind words of encouragement when you need it most. God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, & death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. (Rev. 214) Talk to God. Likely, you will feel much better after you pour out your heart to Jehovah God in prayer. (Ps. 628) This is not simply a feel-good therapy. In prayer, you are appealing to the God of all comfort, who comfort us in all our tribulation. (2 Cor. 13,4) By these following scriptures. Ps. 3418; Ps. 10217; Ps. 1473; Isaiah 258. It is my hope that some of these will help you, as they did for me. giving, hope to see our loved ones once again
