Margaret Luper Robinson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 05, 2015. She was born in Nash County on September 29, 1916 to the late Levie Roy and Thelma Batts Luper. She is predeceased by her husband, Percy Robinson; sons-in-law Mark Weaver and M.L. Frederick; a brother Leland Luper, and two sisters Mildred Janik and Agnes Forrest.
Margaret was a farmers daughter who learned the value of frugal living during the Great Depression, yet had a generous heart and was willing to share with others. Given that frugal upbringing, she was the quintessential bargain shopper. Upon retirement, she and her husband enjoyed many happy days in their beach home at Holden Beach, NC, both being avid fishermen. Margaret cooked many splendid seafood meals for the family gatherings at the cottage. After becoming a widow, she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Among her sage advice to her children was to travel while you are able. This gentle person was loved by all who traveled through life with her. She was beautiful.
A devout Christian, Margaret was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 60 years and was a woman of strong will and faith. She was blessed with a talent for cooking and will be remembered for always reaching out to her fellow parishioners preparing and offering bereavement meals.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Julia Robinson Weaver and Shirley Robinson Frederick; sons Norman Thorp Robinson and his wife, Myrna, and Dwight Lowell Robinson and his wife, Routh; seven grandchildren, Linda Smith, Melissa Weaver, Gregory Frederick, Elizabeth Robinson, Jennifer White, Brian Robinson and John Michael Robinson; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Floral arrangements are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1217 Bethlehem Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning, 8th of April, at Eleven Oclock in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount with Reverend Jerry Jackson of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. I am so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. Growing up on Maple Street, I have many fond memories of her gentle spirit, wonderful cooking and beautiful smile! She was a neighbor and dear friend to my parents, Fonto and Edna Earle Bennett. I pray for peace and comfort for your family during this time. Sincerely, Kathy Bennett
When I was single I rented a home on Maple Street from Mrs. Robinson, the one right next door to her own home. She was more like a second mother than a landlady. Always looking after me, especially watching out for my mail, etc., while I traveled for work. What a special lady she was. She will certainly be missed. -Sharon Faircloth Drake
Hi my name is Kayla and I am a local bible teacher. I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. There is a very comforting scripture at Isaiah 258. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can all look forward to a time when death will be no more. I hope that this scripture can bring some true comfort during these difficult times.
