Gene Edward Joyner

Gene Edward Joyner, age 69, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013. Born in Nash County on July 11, 1943, he is the son of the late Merl Joyner and Agnes Viverette Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lorraine Norman and her husband Ted E. and Beverly Frances Joyner; brother, Billy Joyner; and special aunt, Clara Viverette Boyle. He leaves behind his brothers, Wayne Joyner and wife Peg Brantley of Spring Hope and Ray Joyner and wife Donna Carpenter of Winston Salem; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Gene will also be remembered and greatly missed by his special companion and caregiver for over 30 years, Vicki Luper; his favorite dog, Nephie and cat, Shadow. The family would like to thank Shonteasha Hawkins, Mary Joyner and Janell Stevenson for the loving care shown to Gene during his extended illness. A service to remember Gene will be held at 1:00pm Monday, April 01, 2013 at Pineview Cemetery with Pastor Noah Joyner officiating.   1. Wayne, I am sorry I did not see you and the family after Gene’s passing. I have tried several times to call but my number for you is no longer valid. I miss you and your boys and the rest of the family out here on Browntown. And those are also the times when I would see Gene. He was always a gentleman to me and I enjoyed him being out there with all of us. I will miss him. I hope you and Peg are doing well and certainly would like to see you in the near future. We all miss you and you are always welcome! Joe
