Ann Puskeppeleit Greer

ROCKY MOUNT - Ann Puskeppeleit Greer, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Born in Ostpreussen, Lithuania on November 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Heinrich Puskeppeleit and Ida Mertinet Puskeppeleit. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jefferson Davis Greer. Ann was 16 years old and lived in Ostpreussen with her family at the beginning of WWII. In 1945, Ann and her family were forced to evacuate due to the invasion of Nazis officials and settled in Landshut, Germany. Ann worked for the German Government as an interpreter for the military where she met and married her husband. She arrived in Jacksonville, NC in 1954 to join her husband and begin her life in the United States and became a US citizen in 1958. Ann was very active in her community. She served as President of the Women of the Moose, President of Onslow Cancer Society, Pink Ladies of Onslow Memorial Hospital, which included the development and training of the candy striper program, management of the gift shop, and created all of the flower arrangements. She had a passion for decorating and sewing, which was evident in her home with the most popular colors and styles. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will missed by all who knew and loved her. Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Susie Ann Joan Greer of High Point, and Jynell Stevenson and husband, Steve, of Rocky Mount. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Jeffery Koenig and wife, Tammy; Brian Koenig; Greg Koenig and wife, Meredith; Kelli Koenig; Mark Koenig and wife, Jennifer; Jamie Stevenson and fianc, Melissa; Ryan Stevenson and fianc, Leah; and Stephanie Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Bliss, Corban, Savanah, Greer, Kylee, Ava and Eden; brother, Guido Puskeppeleit and wife, Renata and many special nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Anns life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Jacksonville with Rev. Martin Greer officiating.
