Castalia – Lori Lynn Boyette Dolmatin, age 55, entered into eternal peace and rest on Friday, October 16, 2026. Born in Nash County, NC on February 17, 1971, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Donald Boyette and Lynn Vick Boyette. She was also preceded in death by her precious dog, Bradlie.
She lived in Rocky Mount her whole life. Even from a young age, she loved animals. She once had a pet duck and always treated her dad’s hunting dogs like they were her own. She made that love of animals into a career, working for the past 25 years at Benvenue Animal Hospital and Nash County Animal Hospital. She enjoyed taking care of other people’s pets and was so excited to tell everyone about the unique pets who came in. In recent years, she also helped care for her mother during an extended illness.
She loved being around people and enjoyed the love of a big family. Family reunions and holidays were especially fun with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. As a teenager, she could often be found shooting basketball at her backyard hoop or cheering in front of the tv for her team – the UNC Tarheels. She lived in a neighborhood with a lot of kids and playing games outside until dark was a common occurrence. She loved bright colors and purple was always her favorite.
Lori grew up attending First Christian Church and was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church as an adult. She loved to shop, walk her dog, go out to eat, cook and travel. She loved the beach but was excited to travel anywhere, especially with her husband Rich who would surprise her with destinations. Christmas time was her favorite – putting up all the decorations, looking at lights, and giving and receiving gifts. She was so easy to buy for and genuinely loved any gift anyone gave her.
Lori is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Richard Dolmatin of Castalia and beloved dog, Charlene; her sister, Beth Boyette Dye (Paul) of Charlotte; and her two nephews, Thomas Arthur Dye and David Maples Dye.

Lori and I grew up on the same street and I remember playing with her and the other kids in the neighborhood. RIP Lori and comfort to your family.
I have just heard the sad news of Lori’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
Lori was such a kind hearted person that loved everyone. I remember all of those big family reunions, her mother and my father were brother and sister. So, my husband and I were at those reunions. Lori did love all of them and enjoyed talking to everyone.
I will miss her so much, but I have great memories of her and all of her animals.
Rest in peace cousin Lori
I have many childhood memories with Lori and her family. Sending thoughts and condolences to all of her friends and loved ones.
