SPRING HOPE – Ted “Lee” Bissett, II, age 57, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Born in Wilson County, NC on December 27, 1968, he was the son of Betty Lane Evans Bissett and the late Ted Lee Bissett.
Blessed with a charismatic and gravitating personality, Lee was widely known and loved throughout the community. A captivating storyteller, he possessed a unique way of making anyone and everyone who met him left feeling heard, special, and better about themselves. Lee grew up working alongside his father in their hardware store and on their family farm, and after his father’s passing, he enjoyed many more years working in the family businesses, Bissett Produce and F.D. Bissett & Son Hardware Store. His love for Spring Hope inspired him to be a Town Commissioner for many years. Lee had a love for history, was proud of both his family heritage and of being a North Carolinian. His talents for running multiple businesses bled over to his civic duties as a former Commissioner for the Town of Spring Hope for many years in addition to many community outreach programs and events. When time allowed, he enjoyed being with his family and friends outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, spending time on the Tar River, or hosting his annual Dove Hunt, Lee always felt blessed to be spending it with those he loved. A devoted and loving father, son, and good friend to many, Lee will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Lee is survived by his sons, Oliver Bissett and Finley Bissett; his mother, Betty Lane Evans Bissett; and several extended family members and many great friends.

A good man and dear friend. Countless memories that will be told for generations. You are missed.
He will be missed for sure. We had so many fun times with Lee. He always lit up the room with his amazing personality. I’m sure he’s telling funny stories in heaven right now.
Wonderful memories of our childhood. We shared a lot of laughs and fun times together as we grew up in Spring Hope. As we reflect on the good times, I miss those days. Rest in pease Lee.
Lee was a great person and always a pleasure to be around. He will be deeply missed.
Lee will be sorely missed by me and so many people. I will miss his laugh, his sense of humor, and the good times we had together for over forty years as friends.
Larger than life and always a great story to tell. The best memories. ❤️
Lee and I have had so many great talks the past few years. He always made me laugh but he was also thoughtful and he really cherished his friends. I kept telling him to write a book. He had a lot of wisdom, great stories and a huge heart. Love you buddy.
Pike for Life! Thanks Lee for being a friend during College and know you were loved by all of us.
No one could tell a story like Lee! Always larger than life for any occasion. Rest in peace friend
Yes grand story teller and always so welcoming with spirit and laughter, rest well my friend.
Great guy to share a beer and hear some great stories, condolences to the family.
Loved my trips from the UK over to the farm back in the day and always guaranteed a great welcome and hosting with Lee around. Rest in peace mate.
Lee, you had a vibrant personality and a deep love for friends and family. You will be so missed. Until we meet again.
Very few people have made me laugh as hard as Lee. He was such a unique character and I know he will be missed by many.
Lee and I grew up in small towns and shared so many wonderful times at the beach. I will always remember waking up late at night to the sound of rocks hitting my window—Lee’s signal that it was time to go catch ghost crabs on the beach. He made growing up in a small town feel fun and special.
I am heartbroken to lose such a good friend, but I will always treasure our beach adventures, our long carpools to Rocky Mount Academy, family dinners listening to our parents’ old stories and all the memories we made along the way. Lee was a special part of my childhood, and I will miss him dearly.
Recent circle of life moment when Finley gave my son a tour at USC. F and O, your Dad was a true Southern Gentleman! He was very proud of you! We are here for you!
We grew up on the same street in Spring Hope. So many fond memories playing carefree when the world seemed slower.
I am so sorry for your loss! Prayers!
This is Mark Cooper not Scott. You always asked when I returned to Spring Hope if I was Mark or Scott and you knew it was Mark always with you. Lee I’m going to miss you brother and friend, thank you for the childhood memories playing football in your backyard every Sunday. RIP Brother.
The charisma Lee had and used to inspire and uplift others was genetic, coming from Betty Lane and Ted. Then throughout his life, Lee observed his Dad who, too, was spellbinding as he would share a story with his quick wit. Lee was compassionate about giving back and caring for others and will be deeply missed. My love and prayers go out to Betty Lane, Oliver and Finley, Sarah Patterson Bailey
I have a lot of great memories working with Lee. He was always a joy to be around! He always made my day with his favorite expression “How are you Love”.
I will always be thankful for our friendship. Prayers for your family and friends! Rest in peace Lee! 🙏🏻
You truly never met a stranger. You always had a way of making people feel welcome. No matter how much time passed, seeing you always felt familiar.
I’m grateful for the laughter, and for simply having had the privilege of calling you my friend/family.
Rest easy! I know in Heaven you’re smiling that big smile and already making friends. Your boys are carrying on the best parts of you❤️
