Rocky Mount – Louis Ellis Stone, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.  Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Nuby Norton “Bud” Stone and Edna Baxley Stone Williams.  He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Elijah “Amos” Williams; his brothers, David Warren Stone, Richard Nuby Stone, and Rufus Speight Stone; and his sister, Mildred Jeanette “Jean” Stone Parker.

A strong and dedicated hard worker who held a deep belief in working smart not hard, Louis retired from Industrial Electric after 28 years.  He was a long-time member of 30 years of the Rocky Mount Singles Club.  A devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Louis will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Louis is survived by his son, Dallas Ray Stone (Greta); his daughter, Cheryl Renee’ Stone Hollowell; his grandchildren, Malinda Hooper, Heather Stone, Rodney Hollowell, and Christina Hollowell; his 6 great grandchildren; his brothers, Bobby Allen Stone (Joyce) and Marvin Lee Stone (Bonnie); his sisters, Edna Ruth Stone Howard, Betty Lou Stone Manning, and Cora “Ann” Stone Surles; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.

A Special Gathering of Family and Friends to celebrate Louis’ life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
