ROCKY MOUNT – E. Norman Davis, age 87, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on March 17, 1939, he was the son of the late Edgar Battle Davis and Ethel Creekmore Davis. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Ward Davis; his brother, John Robert Davis; and his sister, Barbara Jean Davis Worell.
Norman served in the military with the United States Coast Guard. He was a firefighter with the Rocky Mount Fire Department and worked as the chief building inspector for the City of Rocky Mount. Norman owned and operated E. Norman Davis & Son, Inc. Real Estate and Construction. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Norman was a family man, and extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved nothing better than spending time with his family and his dear friends. A loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend to many, Norman will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Norman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vivian Landen Davis; his son, Norman Scott Davis (Ashley); his grandsons, Norman Robert Davis (Caitlin), Jonathan Colby Davis (Hilary), and Alston Gray Davis (Josie); and his great-grandchildren, Christopher Scott Davis, Oliver Mark Davis, Ella Ruth Davis, Leola Annette Davis, Elijah Norman Davis, and Mila Katherine Davis.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Norman’s life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. A visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Englewood Baptist Church.
Burial will be private.
