Ira D. Lynch Allen

Richmond, VA – Ira D. Lynch Allen, age 98, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2026.  Born in Greensville County, VA on June 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Jack Mendon Lynch and Davis Rook Lynch.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Thomas Allen and her sister, Velma Lee Lynch Capps.

Ira was born and raised at her grandparent’s farm along the Nottoway River in Purdy, Virginia.  In the early 1950s she moved to Richmond, Virginia and began a 45-year career in the operations center for First and Merchants National Bank.  Ira followed the bank through multiple transitions, finally becoming a part of Bank of America.   A devoted and loving aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many, Ira will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Ira is survived by her nephew, Dr. Gerald W. Capps; her special cousin, Will Lynch; and several extended family members and dearest friends.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Ira’s life will be held on Friday May 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Greensville Memorial Cemetery, 1250 Skippers Road, Emporia, VA 23847.
