Horace Leonard Lynch

Hollister – Horace Leonard Lynch, son of the late Howard Lynch and Clarine Daniel Lynch, was born March 31, 1949, in Halifax County, NC.  He departed his life on March 10, 2026, at his home in Hollister.  He was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church where he served as an Usher for many years.

Horace was united in holy matrimony to Mary Ann Lynch on April 30, 1971, and to this union one daughter and one son.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Howard Lynch, his mother, Clarine Daniel Lynch, brothers, Wendell Hines and James Jerome Hines, and sisters, Maeola Warner and Shirley V Richardson.

He was employed at the Haliwa Saponi Indian Charter School in Warren County and really loved his job, the staff, and the students.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mary Ann Lynch; his daughter, Kristie Richardson (Hurley Jr.) of Hollister, NC; his son, Quan Lynch (Nicole) of Bolton, NC; his grandchildren, Cameron (Nya), Zachary, Cole, and Chelsea; his great-grandchild, Mowie; a special mother-in-law, Verty Lynch of Enfield, NC; his brothers, Alfred Ray of Dale City, VA, Curfort Morris (Hazel) of Hollister, NC; his aunts, Yvonne Richardson of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Faye Lynch (John) of Enfield, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Horace’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, 1389 Richardson Road, Warrenton, NC 27589 with Rev. Willie Silver officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Lynch Family Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

  1. Mr Horace was a very nice gentleman. He was also very polite whenever you saw him always had a smile. He will surely be miss but God had a new job waiting for him. Condolences to the family.

  3. My condolences to Horace’s family. When I needed someone to take care of my lawn service at my home in Hollister I thought of my friend Horace. Horace understood my needs and treated my lawn like his own. His friendship will be missed by all who considered him their friend. McCray and Shirley Evans.

  4. Mr. Lynch was a pleasure to know and work with. He was always proactive in his work and had a rapport with people second to none, and never had to micromanage anything he did. Even after I retired, we would still talked to each over the phone or whenever we would see each other. Some people we meet in life once and hope to never meet again. Other people we meet and wish they were in our presence for a hundred years.
