Gregory "Greg" Dean Hutsell

October 14, 1957 ~ February 28, 2026

Born in: Knoxville, TN
Resided in: Rocky Mount, NC

Rocky Mount – Gregory “Greg” Dean Hutsell, age 68, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026.  Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on October 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert Frank “Bobby” Hutsell and Jerry Sue Campbell Hutsell.

Greg retired from Aramark as the Director of Environmental Services at Nash UNC Hospital after 19 years of dedicated service.  Blessed with a contagious personality, filled with laughter and fun, he was known to have never met a stranger.  An avid Tennessee Volunteers fan, GO VOLS, he lived and breathed VOLS football.  Whether it was cruising through the mountains or along the coastal roads while visiting the beach, Greg loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and no matter where he was, loud, good music was a must-have.  Above all else, what Greg loved the most was spending time with family and friends, especially when it involved being around his girls as the best “girl dad” ever or playing with his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Boo-bud”.  A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and good friend to many, Greg will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Greg is survived by his wife of 21 years, Tina Morris Hutsell; his daughters, Chelsea Hutsell (Bradley Rivenbark), Caitlin Hutsell (Brian Tran), Casey Pollard (Ben), and Angela Price (Ollie); his grandchildren, Thorp Price, Cameron Thorpe, Addilyn Rivenbark, Emory Rivenbark, and Caisen Dean Rivenbark; his brother, Randy Hutsell (Corrine); and several extended family members and good friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. 4. I am deeply saddened to hear about Greg. I knew him and his entire family as a very young girl during the glory days of Derita. One of my favorite pictures is of him, my brother Joey McGee and Wally Bumgarner at one of Wally’s birthday parties. What a wonderful smile. You will be greatly missed. My condolences to your bother Randy who remains one of my favorites to this day. I have no doubt Wally “B” was there to greet you last Saturday. 🙂

I will miss your gentle voice, Ive never heard you raise it to anyone. I guess you got that from being a “girl dad”! You were a kind, gentle, caring man to everyone, especially Tina. We know the angels were waiting for you because we saw them. Now you are our angel looking down on all of us. Its never goodbye, its see you later!
