Pinetops – Phillip “Phil” Brent Pierce, age 63, passed away after a courageous six-year fight with cancer on Friday, February 20, 2026. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on October 30, 1962, he was the son of the late Russell Pierce and Judy Carolyn Hadnott Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his lifetime friend and brother-in-law, Danny Crisp.
A man of great faith, Phil was a long-time member of Temperance Hall Church. Working next to his son, he owned and operated Pierce & Son Paint Company and was a talented painter and contractor. Blessed with a contagious smile and personality, Phil would always go out of his way to help others around him. An avid fishman, he enjoyed visiting the coastal beaches whenever he could and spending time with family and friends. Above all, he especially cherished his children and grandchildren. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and good friend to many, Phil will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Phil is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly Crisp Pierce; his son, Tyler Brent Pierce (Chelsea); his granddaughters, Bryleigh and Ellie Pierce; his brothers, Russell Wayne Pierce and Danny Ray Pierce (Vanessa); his sisters, Diane Pierce Upchurch (Ronnie) and Lynette Pierce Marlowe (Dennis); his sisters-in-law, Deborah Hawkins (Steve) and Lynn Crisp; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Phil’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Mike Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery (Pinetops). Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

I knew him from Brewer paint co. So sorry you lost Phill. In my prayers. He always loved to fish we were on a job and there was a creek and he couldn’t help himself to wet a hook. Good memories of Phill.
