Glenn Lee Hill

August 9, 1940 ~ November 30, 2025

Born in: Nash County, NC
Resided in: Rocky Mount, NC

Rocky Mount – Glenn Lee Hill, age 85, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025.  Born in Nash County, NC on August 9, 1940, he was the son of the late George Lee Hill and Rachel Gladys Womble Hill.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Sue Giddens Hill.

Dad had a very public life as a minister, pastor, an employee and as a business owner.  However, his first calling and devotion was spreading the gospel about the good news of Jesus.  This can be solidified by the fact that upon his graduation from high school, he received a full ride academic scholarship to NC State, and much to the joy of his mother and many others—he passed it over to become a minister.  This set the course for the rest of his life.

His first job was at Gene and Pauls’ Gen. Merchandise, plumbers apprentice at Pemberton, Rocky Mount Asst. Building Inspector, as well as the Engineering dept., VP of the Peoples Bank Of RM, and finally a calling that his preacher heart was just right for-Director of Tri County Industries -TCI.  Other than his main calling, this was one of his biggest contributions to society.  He brought this organization from a very bleak, precarious financial situation to a robust place of hope for the handicapped, including the building of a new facility at the current location on Atlantic Ave.  He campaigned tirelessly throughout the state—speaking to lawmakers, business clubs, private organizations–advocating for the disadvantaged and those that were shut-in without purpose in life.  His powerful sermon was titled “Punching Holes in the Darkness”.  It was a call to bring hope and joy to the lives of unseen people in the homes of the greater RM area. Of course he was also known as the “paperman”, having distributed the News and Observer in Nash/Edge for 40 plus years.  He was an advocate for truth, forgiveness, reconsideration of traditional beliefs, and the pursuit of biblical integrity, no matter the cost.  His book, “Christianity’s Greatest Dilemma”, was a result of his diligence and continues to sell and be distributed worldwide-translated in multiple languages, and published in two.  It has reached people he never dreamed possible and will continue after his death.

A devoted and loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Glenn will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Lila Rogan Hill; his daughters, Sonya Hill Webb (Sherwood), Suzanne Hill Langley (Nick); his sons, Chris Hill (Jeannie) and Timothy Hill (Lindsay); his (13) grandchildren, Adam Hill (Sarah Jo), Daniel Hill (Helen), Carianna Marie Boyd (Chris), Evan Hill (Sarah), Zachary Hill, Sarah Webb Williford (Callie), Rachel Webb Ellis (Brandon), Seth Webb (Allison), Rebecca Langley Langston (Braden), Joshua Langley (Belle), Nathan, Trevor, and Julianna Hill; his(16) great grandchildren, Carleigh, Audra, Fletcher, Walton, Cleo, Fallon, Cassidy, Kathryn (all Hills), Mara Boyd, Hannah and Emily Williford, Sawyer Webb, Colby Ellis, Madelyn and Luke Langston, and Killian Langley; his sisters, Jo Ann Mills (Amos), Linda Hill Burgess (the late Bobby Joe), and Sue Hill Brinkley (Mike); his brother, Wayne Hill (Deborah); his in-laws, Charlotte and Jimmy Southerland and Althea Brock-the (late Wayne Brock); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.
