Marjorie Marie Etter Adams

Rocky Mount – Marjorie Marie Etter Adams, age 92, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.  Born in Hidalgo County, TX on September 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Newton Abraham Etter and Thelma Mae Bowles Etter.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Lee Etter.

She devoted most of her life to teaching, both in schools and church. She served as a missionary in Puerto Rico for more than 20 years, and in her 70’s moved to Thailand to serve as a missionary and teacher for 3-4 years.  She has been very faithful in church ministry throughout her life.

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend to many, Margie will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Margie is survived by her sons, Dr. Kenneth Ray Adams and wife Kristi and Thomas McKinney Adams and wife Elizabeth; her grandchildren Rev. Christopher Adams and wife Julia, Jessica Spivey, and Karen Figueroa-Adams and husband, Gabriel; great-grandchildren, Emma Spivey and Jude Adams; and her extended family members and dearest friends

A Funeral Service to celebrate Marjorie’s life will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 with Rev. Charles Taylor officiating.  A Private Family Burial will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
