Nashville – James Russell Fleischer, age 65, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025.  Born in Franklin County, Ohio on November 27, 1960, he was the son of the late Russell James Fleischer, Sr. and Shirley Mae Parm Fleischer.

A man dedicated to serving his country and his community, James retired honorably from the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant.  Following his military career, he became a Licensed Practical Nurse and was most recently employed with The Carrolton of Nash.  In his spare time, he especially enjoyed watching NFL football and was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, James will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

James is survived by his wife, Vernell Hendricks Fleischer; his sons, Robert Fleischer (Enyah Williams), James Russell Fleischer, Jr., Steven Fleischer (Megan), Jameel Pittman (Victoria), Ervin Hendricks, and William Pittman; his daughters, Julie Fleischer, Elizabeth Fleischer, and Veronica Coley (Jason); his 16 grandchildren; his brother, Russell Fleischer; and several extended family members and good friends.

A Graveside Service to celebrate James’s life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

  1. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. James thur his lovely wife Vernal I knew him as Jim as he was called by his family that surrounded him with lots of love .Jim was a very humble and welcoming man as if he never meet a stranger. My he take his rest in paradise REST IN PEACE!! JIM ❤️
