ROCKY MOUNT – My beautiful, long legged bride GAIL WICKHAM THOMPSON succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a courageous battle of nine months.
Gail is pre-deceased by her father, Clarence W. Wickham and mother, Betty S. Wickham as well as husband, Gary Sawyer and daughter, Elizabeth Clare Sawyer.
Gail is survived by her husband, Robert (Bobby) F. Thompson, Jr. of Rocky Mount, NC; son, Christopher Daniel Sawyer and wife Morgan Turner Sawyer of Raleigh, NC; step-son, Fletcher Kilpatrick Thompson of Nashville, NC and wife Stephanie Davison Thompson and their daughters, Rose/Renn Catherine Thompson and Lily Simone Thompson of Raleigh, NC and grandchildren, Preston Andrews, Riley Andrews and Emerson Holland as well as a Special niece; JC Bagilo.
She was a native of Tarboro, NC and attended Tarboro City Schools, Saint Mary’s, ECU and UNC.
Gail was a renowned realtor and voted “Realtor of the Year” and served as President of the Rocky Mount Association of Realtors.
She mentored many young realtors and enjoyed her time as “Mama Bear” – Broker in Charge at Market Leader Realty with “the girls” Ana Joyner and Renee Silk. There were many fond memories during her tenure at Market Leader Realty.
Gail never met a slot machine that she did not like and enjoyed many trips with her close friends,
There will be a Floating Celebration of Gail’s life at our home on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. We hope you will join us in this celebration.
In lieu of flowers or gifts we ask that you make a contribution to The Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
We would ask that you hold one another a “little closer” and enjoy every minute. Peace be with you.
