Guestbook

  1. I met and got to know Charlie through my brother Steve, that passed away in 2014. They were the best of friends…..what a super nice guy he was. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  2. It is so very sad to know my dear cousin, Charlie, is no longer with us. He was such an interesting, unique and special person, always the Southern gentleman. I so appreciated Charlie visiting us in Virginia when he was hiking the Appalachian Trail many years ago. His attendance along with his sister Carol (all the way from Texas) at my son’s wedding in 2008 will always hold so special a place in my heart, as well… our warm memories of Charlie will long be remembered!

  3. Charlie and I were friends for over 75 yrs. Although I moved away, I still kept in touch and visited him and Bill during holidays. He was a fine fellow. I’ll miss him a lot. Chip.

  4. Our family is sorry for your loss. My son, David and his dad sometimes have spent many hours in Toy Mart looking and buying Thomas the Tank Engines, track, rug, whatever else we could find. He loved seeing David pick out different things and hearing him tell him who each one was and what they did for Sir Topham Hat. David loved some Thomas, and we felt like Thomas and the other trains were a good learning tool for him. He could recite the stories word for word from the VHS tapes. Mr. Heck was always a big help and had a friendly welcoming smile. I think Mr. Heck enjoyed hearing the stories too just because David was so young but yet he could remember each one so vividly. I have fond memories of those days every time I ride by there. My how times have changed for time waits for no one.

Our prayers are for peace, comfort, and strength when you need them most that only God can give. May God bless each one of you. Maybe he is still showing off Thomas the Tank Engine to other kids.

  5. We were saddened to learn that Charlie had died. He was our neighbor for many years and mine growing up in Rocky Mount just two houses down on Pinterest Road. We extend our deepest condolences to his children, their Family and his sister, Carol/family.

    Fondly,
    Sarah (Melvin) and Fred Almus

  6. I worked with Charlie handling his business insurance needs for the past 25 plus years. He was an extremely smart man and was always kind and courteous in everything – a true gentleman. I know his family will miss him dearly. Praying that Christ will fill you all with his Peace during this difficult time and the days ahead.
