Dannie Carroll Bearden

Dannie Carroll Bearden, 77, of Winterville, NC and formerly of Greenwood, widower of Gloria Adams Bearden, died on February 19, 2025.

Born in Greenwood, Dannie was the son of the late Henry Grady Bearden, Jr. and Gladys Imogene “Jean” Harbin Bearden. He was a 1965 graduate of Greenwood High School and received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Lander College in 1969. Dannie was a dedicated professional in the textile and retail industry, having worked for Burlington Industries and Dixie Yarns, and was the owner of Carolina Vacuum and Sewing in Greenwood. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran who served as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage and commitment.

His work ethic was matched only by his deep affection for family and friends. Dannie loved spending time with his family, particularly his granddaughters, Tori and Maci. He found joy in singing in the choir at St. Mark United Methodist Church, participating in the Charles Poore Sunday School Class, and being a part of the Men’s Ministry. He loved playing golf, cooking up delicious meals, enjoying lake life on a pontoon, serving others, and just being silly. Dannie also had a passion for carpentry, having built his home in Asheboro, NC, alongside his father and brother-in-law.

Dannie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Khristy and Bryan Lee along with his beloved granddaughters, Tori Ebeling and her husband, Tyler, and Maci Lee and her fiance, Greyson Reel. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Russell Landers and his niece, Dana Landers and family friend, Debbie Chance.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his nephew, Kevin Landers.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mark United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
