Nashville – Alie Burt Cooper Pearcey, age 82, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024.  Born in Edgecombe County, NC on January 11, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Arrington Cooper, Jr. and Christine Richardson Cooper.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Pearcey.

Blessed with musical talent, Alie was an organist for over 30 years having played for both the York Chapel Methodist Church, of which she was a member of, and for Bethlehem United Methodist Church which she attended with her family.  A true believer in giving back to her community, she was a substitute teacher for over 10 years for the Nash County Public School System, a Girl Scout troop leader also for over 10 years, and was a Debuette Club of Nash County leader for 3 years.  A loving and devoted mother and friend, Alie will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Alie is survived by her daughter, Christy Sue Privette and her spouse, Natasha Barfield; her son, John Cooper Privette and his spouse, Eric Knapp; and many extended family members and dearest friends.

A Special Gathering of Family and Friends to celebrate Alie’s life will be on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alie’s name to the Nash County Animal Shelter, 921 N 1st St, Nashville, NC 27856.

  7. To my Mother-In-Law who quickly became my 2nd Mother…you are gone too quick, but so glad you are no longer in pain. It was always so much fun when the family all got together, where laughter and love were abundant. I’ll never forget your unconditional love, care, and acceptance of me.
