ROCKY MOUNT – Barbara “Bunnie” Jean Goodsell Edwards, age 63, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, with her husband, Wayne and daughter, Casey, by her side. She was born in Worcester County, MA on November 16, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Richard “Bud” Joseph Goodsell, III and Virginia “Ginger” Prichard Goodsell.
Bunnie had a deep love for the beach and an even deeper love for her grandchildren. She was a passionate Carolina Tar Heel fan through and through, no matter the sport—everything had to be Carolina blue. Her loyalty extended beyond college sports; she was also a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She and her beloved husband Wayne would often attend games together, creating cherished memories that filled her heart.
When surrounded by her family, Bunnie was truly at her happiest. She had a great love for shopping, indulging in Diet Mountain Dew, and savoring her favorite treat: Hershey’s Cookies and Cream bars. Wayne faithfully made her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every single day, a simple act of love that brought her immense joy. And when it came to her favorite games, she could often be found enjoying rounds of Candy Crush and solitaire, always content in the quiet moments.
Bunnie also adored the outdoors and found peace laying by the pool, but there was one rule—no one could splash her and get her hair wet! She carried a beautiful balance of fun, joy, and strength, and she will be forever remembered for the love she gave and the memories she created with those she held dear.
Her life reflects the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Bunnie lived with a strong heart, unshakable spirit, and unwavering faith. She has finished her race, and her legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Bunnie is survived by her husband of 17 years, Wayne Edwards; her daughters, Casey Nicole Pridgen and Morgan Danielle Clark; her son, Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Edwards and wife, Amy; her grandchildren, Kaylee, Camron, Keegan, Cadan, and Ryleigh; her brothers, David Goodsell and wife, Patricia, and Timothy “Tim” Goodsell and wife, Melissa; and her sister, Lynn Goodsell.
A Special Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Although we lost contact over the years, I often thought of her and recently was inquiring with others had they heard from her. To learn of her passing today was sad.
Prayers for her family and friends.
You will be missed but you will always be a part of our hearts and lives. Your laughter was contagious and you could always change the tone of what was going on around you. You have earned your wings.
Thoughts and prayers to your family!

Wayne and family, I’m sorry to hear of Bunnie’s passing. We grew up together and graduated in the same class from RMSH. She was always a pretty girl with a pretty spirit to match. I know her smile is brightening heaven today.
I was so saddened to hear this news. I know heaven has an extra beam of light now that you are there. You were always smiling and full of life and love. We will see each other again but until that day, I ask you to watch over the Heels and just for me the Yankees. Haha. And you didn’t let anybody else call you this but me and your sweet daddy , but , love you Barbara Jean. RIP my friend
I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t think of a single time Bunny wasn’t smiling. I first met her in school and seemed to have many memories at different times in our lives. She was someone I could go days, years not seeing and still feel we could pick up where we last left. The world has truly lost a good person. I will pray for all and keep you in my thoughts.
